丸の内オフィス街の電柱に、写真のようなステッカーが貼ってあるのに気づきました。
マービン・ゲイの似顔絵。What's Going On? TEPCO. （一体何が起こってんだよ、東電？）

彼の歌にはこのステッカーのメッセージにもなっている、What's Going On? という名曲があって、この似顔絵は彼のアルバムジャケットの写真に似せたものです。

What's Going On? はYouTubeにもかなりアップされています。以下の動画には歌詞も加えられています。（日本語訳は少々荒っぽいかな？）

この歌といっしょにアルバムに入っている曲で、Mercy Mercy Meという、これまたスゴい曲があります。去年、震災の後ですが、このアルバムを久しぶりに聴いてみたとき、このMercy Mercy Me の歌詞には、改めてぶったまげました。あー、福島原発の悲劇はもうマーヴィン・ゲイが歌っていたんだ、って。
「すべてはもう変わってしまった。放射能は地中にも、上空にも。そばに住んでいた動物や鳥たちは死んでいく」
副題には、The Ecology Song とあり、１９７１年に発表されたこの曲は、公害反対の歌として作られたのかもしれませんが、いま福島でおこりつつあることを予言したものになっています。
